Sounds like science fiction. But the tech community is already assigning valuations based on this narrative. The problem? Yin Qi’s roadmap has a massive blind spot. He talks about “A2A networks” and “independent identity systems” for agents, but he never mentions the one infrastructure that makes autonomous economic agents possible: blockchain.

The Critical Missing Layer: Trust Without a Central Party

Yin Qi’s speech focused on three pillars: an Agentic OS (a middleware connecting models to tools and devices), a new generation of terminals (cars, robots, phones as “agent carriers”), and an Agent-to-Agent (A2A) network where agents can collaborate and transact. The economic vision is tantalizing: engineers with personal coding agents, designers with creative bots, and a “minimum productive unit” that is not a human but an AI agent.

But here’s where his analysis breaks down. An agent that works for 40 hours straight will generate value. That value needs to be settled. Who pays the agent? Who verifies that the work was done correctly? What happens if two agents disagree on the outcome of a multi-hour task? In Yin Qi’s world, all of this is handled by the Agentic OS provider—presumably his company or a consortium of partners. That’s a single point of failure, a regulatory honeypot, and a recipe for rent extraction.

Blockchain solves this. Smart contracts can encode payment terms, dispute resolution, and escrow. Decentralized identity (DID) systems give each agent a unique, portable identity that cannot be revoked by a central authority. Token incentives align agent behavior with network goals. The ledger provides an immutable audit trail for every action an agent takes over its 40-hour workflow.

From the noise of 2017 to the signal of today—we learned in the ICO era that tokenizing work without real demand creates bubbles. But we also learned that protocols like Ethereum enable economic coordination that no single company could ever provide. The same lesson applies here.

But there’s a deeper issue: the Agentic OS, as described, becomes a choke point. Every agent’s request passes through it. Every tool call is routed by it. Every identity resolution depends on it. That’s a central server wearing a decentralized hat. If Yuexing & Qianli controls the OS, they control the agent economy—exactly like Apple controls the iOS ecosystem.

Contrast this with a blockchain-native approach. Instead of a single OS, you have a protocol layer for agent identity, a separate protocol for tool registry, and smart contracts for execution. Agents discover each other through on-chain registries. Payments happen in stablecoins or native tokens. The “OS” is just a lightweight wallet that connects to these protocols. This is the vision behind projects like Autonolas, Fetch.ai, and Ritual, though none have achieved scale yet.

Based on my audit experience of 45+ ICO whitepapers, I can tell you that the winning architecture will not be a monolithic OS. It will be a stack of interoperable, decentralized protocols. Yin Qi’s A2A network requires agents to have “independent identities and credit systems.” He mentions distributed authentication (DID) and incentive mechanisms, but skips the implementation details. In practice, an agent economy without smart contracts is like a stock market without a clearinghouse.

Consider a simple scenario: Agent A hires Agent B to write a piece of code over 10 hours. Agent B delivers the code, but Agent A claims it’s buggy and refuses to pay. In a centralized system, the OS provider must arbitrate. This introduces latency, bias, and regulatory risk. In a decentralized system, a smart contract holds the payment in escrow. A decentralized oracle network (like Chainlink) verifies the code’s functionality. If the code passes tests, payment automatically releases. No human needed.

Moreover, A2A networks open the door to agent-led arbitrage. Agents can bid on tasks, compete on price, and even form syndicates to tackle complex jobs. All of this requires a native token to fuel transactions and reward honest behavior. Yin Qi’s vision, without a token or a permissionless ledger, is a glorified API marketplace.

By the time his OS is embedded in vehicles, a lightweight blockchain agent can already be running on a Raspberry Pi. The speed of software beats the speed of hardware, and decentralized software moves even faster because it doesn’t require a corporate roadmap.


The Takeaway: Follow the Token, Not the Talk

The market is already pricing in a hype cycle around “agent OS” and “A2A.” But the real alpha will come from identifying the projects that solve the trust problem. Yin Qi’s company may eventually partner with a blockchain protocol, or they may try to build their own. Either way, the current speech is a signal: the convergence of AI and crypto is accelerating. But the winners will be those who embrace decentralization, not fight it.

Will the next trillion-dollar platform be a centralized Agentic OS or a permissionless agent protocol? The ledger does not lie. Watch where the developers deploy their agent identities. That’s where the real value will flow.
